This year looked like endless THCs (tomato, ham & cheese toasties) made with love, shared over big chats – a classic Nimbin Youth joke, IYKYK! It looked like cold drinks, ice-creams and fruit on hot days and food on the table with generous donations from Nimbin Bakery and the Nimbin Food Co-op helping us keep bellies full.
It looked like Lo-Fi + Chill arvos, Friday Vibes arvos, D&D sessions, music and young people just being young people in a safe space that is all theirs!
It looked like new laptops generously donated by Summerland Bank, alongside countless community members gifting computers, keyboards and much-needed tech to our space. And thanks to The Nimbin Community Centre for free access to WiFi — something our young people appreciate, keeping them connected and the Clash Royale flowing 😉
It looked like help covering our rent and essential outgoings, thanks to the Hemp Embassy, a few incredible local organisations and generous community members who quietly donate throughout the year. Their support always seemed to arrive at just the right time, helping us keep the doors open and the lights on. You know who you are — and we are so so grateful.
It looked like youth care — often crisis care — sitting with young people through hard moments, advocating, supporting, listening and showing up again and again.
It was fun too! A free skating rink trip for 18 young people — funded by Lismore City Council and Kyogle Youth Action! Memories we’ll hold onto for a long time!
It looked like gift vouchers, practical support and our petition, supported by letters from the public and community who stood with us and our young people.
And the biggest news of all…..
We’re meeting with Mayor Steve Krieg in Jan to discuss possible funding for Nimbin Youth. We’re so hopeful. This feels like a moment where Nimbin Youth may finally be seen and heard for what it is — a vital service in our community (fingers crossed!!) If you would like to write a support letter for our upcoming meeting, please get in touch. We’ll be collating all letters alongside the petition to share at our meeting with the Mayor.
Most of all, this year belonged to our young people.
Wick and I absolutely love each and every one of you. We see you. We believe in you. We want nothing but happiness and opportunity for your futures and we’ll keep doing everything we can to help foster that.
✨ 2026 is our year ✨
Thank you to everyone who supports Nimbin Youth. We only exist because of you.
